I have a friend who places a high value on kindess - being kind herself as well as appreciating it in others. So I was intrigued last week when I came across a book "The Power of Kindness" by Piero Ferrucci. Under the circumstances, I found the title irrestible.
From my own experiences, I find that "kindness" is often the key to solving most problems. If we begin by being kind, regardless of our viewpoints, it makes it easier get along with others which in turn, enables us to have a productive and satisfying life.
Next time you have a situation that is potentially adversarial, think about being kind to the other person - think about putting yourself in their shoes and consider what they really want. Often, it's much less than you think.
"The Power of Kindness" connects kindness to attributes such as honesty, forgiveness, sense of belonging, respect and gratitude among others. Excellent read and provides much food for thought.
